Zip Corvette's gold foil covers will protect your C5 or C6 Corvette's ball joint and tie rod boots from burning up under excess brake rotor heat. The ball joints on 1997-2013 Corvettes are not available without buying the entire lower control arm assembly and the steering knuckle assembles. These covers will protect the boots from melting and protect the ball joint itself from un-wanted rotor heat. A must have for any Autocross, HPDE, or road race where aggressive brake pads are being used. Gold foil covers are precut for an exact fit and have an adhesive backing to hold them in place. Set of 8 covers.
Our technicians have determined that the installation difficulty level of this item is a 3 on a scale of 1-5. Read more about our install ratings here.
Almost no effort. Either snap on or plug and play. Probably no tools involved.
Simple installation with common tools. Probably less than 20 minutes for installation. Easy enough for
anyone who can read and follow instructions. A good first project for someone with no experience. Hard
to mess up.
A little mechanical experience is helpful but not necessary. Possibly a good first project for those with
a little more confidence. Will probably take more time (20-60 minutes) than #2.
Mechanical experience a definite plus. Not a good first project for the inexperienced. Most likely a 2-3
hour job minimum.
Only for the experienced wrench. Most likely requires good tool collection, possibly special tools and
a fair amount of experience. 95% of people will choose to have this installed by Zip or a professional.
