How much do you want to transform the steering in your C2 Corvette? Zip Corvette has multiple conversion systems available that will make your "hard to steer" Corvette turn on a dime. For those interested in the latest in steering technology - Steeroids rack & pinion systems are the way to go! Complete custom designed bolt-on rack & pinion system can be utilized on both manual and power steering equipped Corvettes.
The Steeroid conversion will replace your Corvette's out of date recirculating ball steering with a rack & pinion kit for improved feel, greater control, and faster turns. Bolt-on install uses only basic hand tools and requires no permanent modifications to your Corvette. Which means you can turn back to stock any time you desire.
Here's what you'll get with a Steeroid rack & pinion conversion kit:
- Manual Steering Rack & Pinion
- Custom Designed Adapter Brackets (powder coated black)
- Tie Rod Ends (self-cleaning & lubricating, Teflon lined)
- Steering Column U-joint assembly
- Miscellaneous Fasteners (grade-8)
This conversion system is designed for a non-power steering equipped 1963-1966 Corvette. The rack & pinion conversion replaces the factory steering box and drag link assembly. To complete installation - you must also order Zip # SC-589 frame reinforcements for the mount bracket to frame support.
Note: This system is designed for 1963-1966 Corvettes with manual steering. The rack does not feature power assist. If you'd like to upgrade your Corvette to power steering - then you will need a Steeroids POWER steering rack & pinion kit (Zip # SC-743 or SC-742) AND Zip's power steering "add-on" kit which includes the power steering pump and related mount hardware.
