69L-82 Steering Box (Rebuilt)
This item requires $75 of core charges. Customers who have purchased a product sold on an exchange basis and had a core deposit applied must return the required rebuildable core within 30 days from the date of shipment. A copy of the original invoice must accompany the return. Failure to return cores within 30 days may result in a reduction or loss of the core deposit. Return freight for cores is the responsibility of the customer.
Steering gear boxes are not the first item you think about when changing fluids or lubricants. The result is years worth of inadequate lubrication causing rough spots or tightness throughout the turning ratio. Which is only enhanced over time due to Corvettes that sit around without being exercised properly. Heck, we've even seen water come out of steering boxes when opening them up. So what's a Corvette owner to do? Zip has a number of potential choices; rebuild your Corvette's original steering box or go the easy route and replace with a complete rebuilt or new unit.
Remanufactured 1969L-1982 Corvette steering boxes are completely disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Assembly includes all new bearings, races, seals and proper adjustment for rolling torque. Rebuilt steering boxes are in stock and ready for immediate shipment.
Note: Original 1969 Late-1982 Corvette steering boxes have a worm gear with a "flat" area at the connection for the column coupler. 1969L-1982 Corvette steering boxes have a $75.00 core charge if old rebuildable steering box does not accompany order. Additional costs may occur if gear box worm gear or pitman shaft gear is damaged.
