The third model year of the C8 Corvette saw key changes, including updates to the engine.
The 2022 engine is still a 6.2 liter V-8, but it now resides behind the passenger compartment instead of in front of it. The mid-engine placement allows for the cowl, hood, and steering wheel to be lower than normal, making your forward vision clearer than ever. The engine still delivers 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers jump to 495 hp and 470 lb-ft with the Z51 package performance exhaust.
An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission routes power to the rear wheels. It is controlled either by a push-button gear selector on the center console or by using two large steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. A manual transmission is not available.
Three new color options were added for the 2022 Corvette: Amplify Orange, Caffeine, and Hypersonic Gray.
The 2022 Corvette earned EPA fuel economy ratings of 15 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. It earned a spot on Car and Driver's 10Best and Editor's Choice lists. Autocar named the 2022 Corvette the "Dream Car of the Year".
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette starts at just above $62,000 for the coupe and more than $69,500 for the convertible. Even in base form, the 2022 Corvette earns its place among higher priced supercars and delivers thrills on the road and the track.
