Corvette Central suggests for safety reasons it is a good idea to add a fusible link to your cigarette lighter on pre 1967 Corvettes, to prevent overheating of the lighter.
C1 Corvettes were not equipped with a fuse on the cigarette lighter. To overcome this problem we developed and extension wire with fuse holder. CC# 251280 will plug directly into the dash ahrness as will the lighter.
