The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve was designed to recirculate exhaust gases back into your Corvette's intake manifold to reduce cylinder temperatures and emissions gases. The EGR controls the flow and recirculation of exhaust gases. When opened, exhaust gases flow through the EGR system to help control emissions, when the EGR valve has a problem it can lead to increased emissions, performance issues (reduced power, acceleration and fuel efficiency) and rough idle situations. On Computer equipped Corvette's the ECM will set-off a check engine light when there is an EGR issue.
