Bilstein
In 1873, Bilstein started producing metal window fittings. The company’s window fittings quickly achieved international acclaim. With newly acquired American technology, Bilstein’s first entry into the auto market was a chrome bumper in 1928. This bumper would go on to be the first chrome bumper for mass-produced cars. The following year, Bilstein released the first side jack for cars. Bilstein’s next major innovation changed the driving experience forever. Developed after the Second World War, gas pressure shock absorbers adapted to changing road conditions like no other suspension part before. This technology allowed for more versatile and safer shocks. Today, a variation of this technology is used across the industry, particularly on high-end cars.
