The 1998L-2004 Corvette knock sensor is screwed into your C5 Corvette's engine block or cylinder head and is used to detect engine knock or detonation. The information is relayed to the ECM/PCM (computer) and is used to fine tune ignition timing. A bad knock sensor can cause a faulty code to set and may also cause ignition timing to be skewed.
Note: 1998 early Corvettes used a knock sensor with a locating tab. 1998 late Corvettes did not use the locating tab.
