Original 1956-1972 Corvette factory fiberglass panels were produced in molds that created a smooth surface on both the top and underside of the panel. To help keep your Corvette "all original", Zip offers as many press molded panels as available. Panels are manufactured to higher quality standards than hand laid panels using fiberglass and resin placed inside male and female molds.

New ORIGINAL STYLE press molded fiberglass panels are better than reproduction panels as they are made using large metal dies under pressure instead of fiberglass molds clamped together. The result is a fiberglass panel that looks more like a factory GM panel with a more correct finish (showing fiberglass strands), thinner panel thickness (more like original) and cleaner, more defined edges (as the panel is pinched in the mold rather than having the flashing ground with trimmer). Nothing could be closer to original because this is how GM originally produced their fiberglass panels.
