The color Copper Metallic from the ‘94 Corvette was short-lived, and in ‘95 was discontinued. It was replaced with Dark Purple Metallic. In 1995, the Bowling Green plant painted 1,049 cars this unique shade. 527 Convertibles received the Pace Car treatment, to celebrate the Indy 500, where Corvette served as the official pace car. White and black were popular colors on the ‘95 car, but red still held the throne for the most popular C4 color.

In years prior to ‘95, the CD player found in the Corvette tended to skip when the car encountered bumps in the road. This error was addressed, along with several other cockpit improvements, on the 1995 car. GM stiffened the radio mount, installed hidden velcro straps to tie down loose components, and helped mitigate water leakage by modifying the weatherstripping to catch water drips.

In the fall of 1993, Mercury Marine built the last LT5 engine, and all the manufacturing equipment was dismantled and shipped to GM. All LT5 engines were sent to Bowling Green, where they were kept in special storage until installation in a ZR1 Corvette. Although the first few years of the ZR1 saw high production, in model years 1993-95, only 448 ZR1’s were produced each year. After building 6,939 ZR1 Corvettes over a six year period, GM discontinued the ZR1 after 1995.
