65-82 Rear Caliper O-Ring Piston Conversion Kit (High Heat Design)

Convert your 1965-1982 Corvette's (2nd design) rear brake calipers from the original lip seal design to the long lasting o-ring design pistons. If brake calipers have been previously remanufactured with stainless steel sleeves - then upgrading your brake calipers is an option for anyone who wants to restore and improve their Corvette's brake system.

Rear brake caliper o-ring piston conversion kit includes:

• (4) O-ring style pistons
• (4) Piston O-ring seals
• (4) Piston dust boots
• Caliper fluid seals (between housing halves)

Note: Includes the correct components to convert a single rear brake caliper to the newer o-ring design. 2 kits required per Corvette.

Everybody knows both time and heat cause your Corvette's brake caliper piston seals to deteriorate. Both have the ability to dry out the rubber and cause them to crack when the brake pedal is applied. OEM rubber seals are designed for approx 347 degrees. Our new high performance, high heat silicone caliper seals will withstand temperatures in excess of 550 degrees. Meaning more reliable, longer lasting caliper seals for your disc brake caliper system.

Note: Zip does not recommend using Dot 5 brake fluid. Dot 5 silicone brake fluid will void the warranty (1-year warranty) as changes in chemistry involved in production of silicone brake fluid may have adverse effects on the rubber components including piston seals and o-rings.

Original-Style vs. O-Ring Seal:
Lip seal piston seals were factory installed in 1965-1982 calipers, and if you are wanting to keep your Corvette 100% correct they are the way to go. However, be aware that prolonged inactivity and/or worn brake components are the enemy of the lip seal design. If you enjoy exercising your Corvette heartily, or, conversely, your pride and joy often sits for extended periods, O-ring seals are the better choice. Superior in design all-around, O-rings offer the best sealing possible.
