These multi-purpose driveline support reinforcement plates can be used on all 1984 through 1996 Corvettes. We have found that the C4 Corvette inherently suffers from a design flaw in the driveline at the fastening points of the support beam to the transmission and differential housing connection surfaces. Although fastened with high grade bolts, self-locking nuts and adhered with factory sealant, the driveline components of the C4 Corvette experience some levels of counterforce load-induced lateral deflection while under heavy loading. This allowance of flex in the driveline is passed off to the chassis and suspension. One common side effect of this phenomenon is where the rear of the vehicle tends to kick out to the right during aggressive high RPM gear shifting.
The stainless steel TIG-weld constructed deflection plate design provides for extreme load reinforcement of the only two flex prone areas of the driveline. By reinforcing these areas, the Corvette's suspension system becomes more isolated allowing it to perform with much less interference from the driveline system. The noticeable improvement in acceleration handling will provide for better directional tracking and predictability especially when at the edge of the performance envelope. These plates also simplify removal and installation of the driveline support beam by providing a topside wrench-free design that, when both bolts are started by a thread, allow the installer to use both hands below where the torque leverage is needed.

Installation difficulty: 4
Our technicians have determined that the installation difficulty level of this item is a 4 on a scale of 1-5. Read more about our install ratings here.
Almost no effort. Either snap on or plug and play. Probably no tools involved.
Simple installation with common tools. Probably less than 20 minutes for installation. Easy enough for
anyone who can read and follow instructions. A good first project for someone with no experience. Hard
to mess up.
A little mechanical experience is helpful but not necessary. Possibly a good first project for those with
a little more confidence. Will probably take more time (20-60 minutes) than #2.
Mechanical experience a definite plus. Not a good first project for the inexperienced. Most likely a 2-3
hour job minimum.
Only for the experienced wrench. Most likely requires good tool collection, possibly special tools and
a fair amount of experience. 95% of people will choose to have this installed by Zip or a professional.
