62-74 Dragon Fire HEI Distributor w/Tach Drive (Red Cap)

The Dragon Fire 1962-1974 Corvette HEI Tachometer Drive Distributor allows you to maintain your working tachometer while gaining the reliability and performance of the GM style High Energy Ignition system. There are a couple things to consider when upgrading your Corvette's points style distributor to and HEI system. First, your Corvette's original style ignition shielding must be removed due to the size of the distributor cap. Second, you'll need the HEI coil pigtail to complete installation. Third, to install the new HEI distributor you must remove the ballast resistor (on equipped Corvettes) or white cloth covered wire which drops voltage to your original points style distributor. Voltage for HEI distributors should be 13.7 volts (approximately, when vehicle is running) to operate at peak efficiency. Lastly, you'll need to change the spark plug wires to include the HEI style female distributor connection. Note: This HEI tachometer drive distributor will work on all 1962-1974 Corvettes except 340-365 horsepower applications with the taller intake and the larger distributor cap causes fitment issues with original style dual snorkel air cleaners (including the factory 1973-1974 version).
